In November 2003 a program called Old Skills: New Opportunities began operation in Victoria.
Older workers 55 to 64 years of age were given an opportunity to use the traditional skills they had developed in their youth to open new opportunities in the work force. Workers learned how to present themselves and their traditional skills in a professional and informative manner. People to demonstrate skills such as Rug hooking, knitting, wood working and musical entertainment are in demand by the growing tourism industry. The fourteen individuals participating in this program completed there training at the end of March 2004. |
